Our Presence
We launched our pilot project in Kansas City in the Spring of 2019 and found a permanent home in Dallas that Fall. Since then we organized seasonal projects in Denver, Lincoln and Austin as well. Currently we have ongoing missions in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Boston. It is our dream to have a presence in every city across the country. If your parish/school/organization is interested in hosting service projects to increase outreach efforts, please contact us and we’ll get you started.

LITTLE CALCUTTA
What is Little Calcutta? First, let’s talk a little bit about the real Calcutta. It is now spelled Kolkata. It is also known as the City of Joy for its rich cultural and literary heritage. It was the British capital of India for over a century and has the oldest polo club in the world. It still has the oldest port and the zoo in India. With over 15 million in the metro area it also has great poverty.
A dark chapter of this region took place In the 1940s. Up to 3 million people died due to a famine in 1943 and in 1946 around 10,000 people were killed during Hindu-Muslim riots. In such a time of despair, Mother Teresa started a movement. She heard a call within a call and gave hope to a small group of people that were poor, sick and suffering in the slums of Calcutta.
Decades later, in a technologically advanced world, we find ourselves in a new slum filled with loneliness, anxiety, and depression – a kind of poverty far greater than the material poverty. Project Finding Calcutta hopes to bring joy by encountering the poor wherever they may be and having an authentic human experience with them. Over the years, some of our volunteers went ahead and found their own Calcuttas. They all have stories about how they found their own LITTLE CALCUTTAs.
Where is your Calcutta?
Join us this weekend to serve the poorest of the poor in America.
